In-ground systems tend to be more rigid and take up less space than portable systems. Concrete is required for an in-ground system installation, and due to the time required for the concrete to dry, the installation of an in-ground system will take longer than a portable system.

Not what I wanted

I had hoped for an entire system, including a base. It wasn’t clear in the description whether or not there was a base, so I took a probability and purchased it. No base. Sent it back.

Difficult installation

I did not realize that the actual pole was in 3 discerned pieces. Although the instructions looked simple, they genuinely were rather confusing. There are a lot of pieces to this. But the final result is good. I am pleased with how it operates and it is durability so far.

Like guesswork? Buy this pole

First, Amazon’s picture for this product is terribly misleading, since it does NOT include a backboard!

Second, the directions are very poorly written. Huffy/Spalding assert this pole will work with any of their backboards, but it’s up to you to guess how to put it together. I purchased a 44″ SlamJam backboard by Spalding, and none of the instructions for the backboard or pole seemed to jive. Worse, the nearest approximation had no numbered diagrams. service, while friendly, was of no aid whatsoever.

If you take pleasure in wasting your time attempting to interpret directions, this is the perfective gift.
