I constantly receive these types of girls basketball questions. How do I get exposure? How do I market my basketball skills? How do I get schools or college coaches to notice me if my team is not very good? First let’s define what exposure is for girls basketball. Girls basketball exposure is basically making college coaches, scouts or recruiters aware of your talent. Exposure is putting yourself in position to be seen. And how do you accomplish this? By playing in events, for example camps and tournaments, where these individuals (college coaches, scouts, or recruiters) will be. So to answer the question, how do I get schools or college coaches to notice me if my team is not very good? If college coaches, recruiters, or scouts are not coming to your school to watch your team, you have to go where the college coaches, recruiters, or scouts are. And that is exposure events. Exposure events are hosted year round to help girls basketball players display their talents. The majority of the events are hosted during a weekend in the spring, a couple of weeks during the summer and a weekend during the fall. Exposure events come in different formats. They may be in skills camp format where players learn different skills and then scrimmage each other. They could be in shootout formats where you are placed on a team and play games all day. They may also be in tournament format for teams. Exposing your skills to college coaches is really not hard to do. You just have to know where the exposure events are. |
