Injuries are inevitable for athletes. Whether you like it or not, you will most probably face either minor or major injuries along the way if you are into physical sports. Although that’s the case, there are still things you may do to at least lower your risk of acquiring severe injuries while playing your bestloved sports. Any professional would tell you that if you want to be good at something you have to exercise hard and get yourself conditioned for that queer field. The same goes with sports. You have to be sure introductory that you are 100% physically, mentally and in an emotional manner ready to play before you step into the game. Remember to warm-up before each game. Most injuries take place because the player didn’t get sufficient stretching and warm-up exercises before running the court. Warm-up exercises are designed to relax and loosen your muscles and pre-heat them in a sense so as not to shock them when the real games begin. Perhaps the most indispensable percentage of each uttermost sport is wearing protective gears. Protective gears serve as cushion for your body if ever you fall. For hockey and football players, helmets, shoulder pads and vests are a requisite because of the nature of the sport they are into. Cyclists and skateboarders are also required to wear helmets. For basketball players, knee pads, arm sleeves and eye goggles are the mutual accessories. If you recognise that you are already injured, don’t push yourself any further. Playing in pain will not only affect your performance but will worsen your injury as well. If you are told by your doctor to rest, take your doctor’s counsel and wait until you are exclusively healed before you go out and play again. There are pros who ignored this and regret it later on in their lives.
Take time to take a break and rest from your trainings. Trainings are primary but without adequate rest, you will still be prone to injuries. Rest will give both your mind and body the probability to get refreshed and energized for the next game so make sure that you don’t take it for granted. |
